Product Care Guide

Dress Shirt Care

1. Iron Properly for a Crisp Look

Adjust the iron to the material setting; cotton would be medium-high heat, avoid high heat on synthetic materials

Iron in sections: collar first (underside then top), then cuffs, yoke/shoulders, sleeves (using the sleeve board for creases), front/back, always moving with the grain of the fabric.

2. Fold and Store Neatly to Prevent Wrinkles

Fold shirts using the military or flat method: button up, lay face down, fold sleeves back, then fold sides over and roll or stack flat in drawers/boxes.

Use cedar blocks or acid-free tissue paper between shirts to absorb moisture/odors and maintain shape without creasing.

3. Handle Stains and Collar Care Promptly

Treat stains immediately: blot (don't rub) with cold water or appropriate remover (e.g., club soda for wine, mild detergent for oil), then launder according to care label.

Use collar stays to keep points sharp; insert them properly after washing/ironing, and always unbutton collars before laundering to avoid stretching.

Tie Care

1. Store Properly to Maintain Shape

Hang ties on a tie rack or roll them loosely to prevent wrinkles and creases from forming over time.

Avoid folding ties tightly in drawers, as this can lead to permanent folds and damage the fabric's structure.

2. Clean Gently and Sparingly

Spot clean stains with a mild detergent and cold water, blotting rather than rubbing to avoid spreading the stain.

Dry clean only when necessary, as frequent dry cleaning can wear down silk or wool fibers and fade colors.

3. Iron with Caution

Use a low-heat setting and place a thin cloth between the iron and tie to protect delicate materials like silk.

Steam ties instead of ironing when possible, as it removes wrinkles without direct heat that could scorch the fabric.

Bow Tie Care

1. Untie After Each Use

Always untie the bow to prevent permanent creases at the knot, preserving the tie's original shape.

Store flat or loosely rolled in a drawer to avoid crushing the bow's form during storage.

2. Handle Fabrics Delicately During Cleaning

Hand wash in cold water with gentle soap for washable materials, avoiding machine washing to prevent fraying.

Air dry flat to maintain the tie's dimensions, as heat from dryers can shrink or distort the fabric.

3. Adjust for Longevity

Tie the bow loosely to reduce stress on the fabric edges, extending the item's lifespan.

Rotate between multiple bow ties to minimize wear from repeated use on the same one.

Pocket Square Care

1. Fold and Store Neatly

Fold pocket squares along their natural lines and store them flat in a dedicated box to prevent unnecessary creases.

Avoid stuffing them into pockets long-term, as this can cause fabric to bunch and lose its crispness.

2. Clean Based on Material

For silk squares, dry clean only to preserve vibrancy and prevent water spots from forming.

Hand wash cotton or linen varieties in lukewarm water, then iron while slightly damp for a smooth finish.

3. Protect from Daily Wear

Remove pocket squares before activities that involve sweat or spills to avoid stains setting in.

Use a fabric protector spray sparingly to repel minor dirt without altering the texture.

Lapel Pin Care

1. Secure Storage to Prevent Loss

Store in a jewelry box with individual compartments to avoid scratches from other items.

Use the original backing or a secure clasp to keep pins from falling off during storage or transport.

2. Clean Regularly but Gently

Wipe with a soft microfiber cloth after each wear to remove fingerprints and oils.

For metal pins, use a mild jewelry cleaner, avoiding harsh chemicals that could tarnish the finish.

3. Be Cautious

Check the pin's backing and stem periodically for bends or looseness to ensure safe attachment.

Avoid wearing in high-contact situations, like crowds, to prevent accidental damage or loss.

Tie Bar Care

1. Attach Correctly to Avoid (Shirt) Damage

Clip the bar horizontally across the tie and shirt, ensuring it grips without pulling too tightly on the fabric.

Avoid over-tightening the tie clip mechanism, this could eventually lead to weaken of the sping.

2. Polish and store correctly

Use a metal polish cloth weekly to maintain luster and remove tarnish from gold or silver bars.

Store in a dry, cool place to prevent oxidation, which can dull the surface over time.

3. Rotate Usage

Alternate between different tie bars to minimize overuse of the same tie bar (and risks of getting new scratches).

Position it between the third and fourth shirt buttons for proper alignment and to prevent slippage.

Suspenders Care

1. Adjust Straps Properly

Set the length to fit comfortably without stretching the elastic or leather too taut, preserving elasticity.

Store by hanging from the clips or folding loosely to avoid kinks in the straps.

2. Clean According to Material

For leather suspenders, wipe with a damp cloth and condition with leather balm to prevent cracking.

Machine wash fabric or elastic ones on a gentle cycle, then air dry to maintain shape and color.

3. Check Hardware Regularly

Inspect clips and buckles for rust or wear, replacing if needed to ensure secure fastening.

Avoid exposing to direct sunlight for long periods, as it can fade colors and weaken materials.

Cuff Links Care

1. Store in Pairs

Keep cuff links in a divided case to prevent losing one and to protect from scratches

Wrap in soft cloth if traveling to avoid contact with other metals that could cause dings.

2. Clean to Maintain Appearance

Soak in warm soapy water and gently brush with a soft toothbrush for detailed designs.

Polish metal surfaces with a specialized cloth to remove tarnish without scratching enamel or stones.

3. Handle with Care During Use

Insert through cuff holes carefully to avoid bending the post or damaging shirt fabric.

Remove before physical activities to prevent accidental knocks that could loosen settings.
